ECDC played an absolutely critical role in getting this project off the ground, putting in funding and driving it forward for 8 of the 11 years it took to get it delivered, before the formation of the Combined Authority which took it over in 2018. Thanks go to former Mayor James Palmer for his dedication to this project over many years.
We now need to ensure further improvements are secured: hourly trains (rather than the current two hourly service), relaying of the missing track (known as the Snailwell loop or Newmarket curve) and doubling of the track to facilitate better services including direct trains from Soham to Cambridge.
