Local Heritage Listing project

Residents are being asked to identify which buildings, structures, archaeological sites and landscapes help make their local communities special.

The Council is taking part in a new Local Heritage Listing Project to help capture what makes East Cambs unique – whether it’s a war memorial, a telephone box or a beautiful country cottage. Even items that you might not expect can be included – the current Buildings of Local Interest list includes the standpipe at Townsend in Little Downham as well as a Victorian stink pipe on Cannon Street!

Many such sites are valued by local people and contribute positively to the district’s character and identity, but fall outside the national listing process. For more information and ways to get involved visit here.
