East Cambridgeshire’s Conservative Councillors are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Councillor for the Swaffhams ward, Allen Alderson.
His long public service shaped the District of East Cambridgeshire for generations to come.
Cllr Bill Hunt said: “It is with great sadness that I hear that Allen Alderson has passed away. I first met Allen in 2007 and was straightaway impressed with what I judged to be a hard working, decent, unselfish, kind and public spirited man. The years I spent working with Allen did nothing to change my mind.
“I send my very best wishes to all Allen’s family and friends and I know he will be greatly missed.”
Allen will be commemorated at the Annual Council meeting on 21 May.
