Local people have rushed to offer support in different ways – giving, collecting, sorting and sending goods to the Ukraine border, donating money, offering accommodation and sending messages of support.

The District Council has written to the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK with a message of solidarity and offers of support. As I write, the Government has announced the Homes for Ukraine scheme. We await the details of how it will work and the District Council’s role in its organisation and we stand ready to help.
